My name is Mrs Dsouza, and I am proud to be a Maths teacher at The Basildon Lower Academy. Moving from India to the UK was both challenging and exciting, and it had always been a dream I wished to fulfil. Before coming to the UK, I completed my MSc in Mathematics and B.Ed from St Aloysius College in Mangalore, India. I later pursued my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics in the UK to better understand the school system and continue my passion for teaching.

Teaching has always been close to my heart. Even as a student, I enjoyed helping my friends learn, and that natural love for teaching shaped my career. I have eight years of experience teaching Maths for Pre-University College students in India, which strengthened my commitment to the profession. When I moved to the UK, I was determined to continue on the same path, and completing my PGCE helped me take that step forward with confidence.

I recently completed my ECT induction, and I am truly overwhelmed with happiness to say, I did it. It has been a long and meaningful journey. I joined The Basildon Academies in July 2025, and I now successfully completed my final term of induction at the Basildon Lower Academy.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the school for the exceptional support I received from day one. My colleagues have been incredibly welcoming, always offering a smile even on their busiest days. My ECT coordinator, induction tutor, mentor, and all the members of staff have guided, encouraged, and motivated me throughout this journey. Their reassurance—especially during observations—played a key role in building my confidence and helping me grow.

During my time here, I have developed each day into a more skilled and confident teacher. I can clearly see how much I have achieved and how much I have grown, both professionally and personally. This school has been instrumental in helping me reach where I am today, and for that, I will forever be grateful.

As I continue my journey in education, I hope to make a positive difference in the lives of young people and contribute to shaping their futures. I will always cherish my experience at The Basildon Academies, a place that has truly helped me rise to the top.
