FOI

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) gives you the right to access recorded information held by public sector organisations.

The FOI Act is overseen by the Information Commissioner who also has responsibility for The Data Protection Act 2018, and The Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

The Basildon Academies Trust is committed to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 ("FOIA") which came into force on 1st January 2005 and applies to Academies with effect from 1 January 2009. The Academy is committed to the principles of accountability and the general right of access to information, subject to legal exemptions. Under the FOIA, any person has a legal right to ask for access to information held by the Academy. They are entitled to be told whether the trust holds the information, and to receive a copy, subject to certain exemptions. The trust is under a duty to provide advice and assistance to individuals making requests under the FOIA.
