About the Trust

The Basildon Academies Trust (BAT) is constituted as a Multi Academy Trust, currently comprising of 2 secondary schools: The Basildon Lower Academy, and the Basildon Upper Academy.  Both are located in Basildon, Essex.

The Lower Academy specialises in the achievement and wellbeing of Key Stage 3 students, whilst the Upper Academy specialises in the achievement and wellbeing of Key Stage 4 and 5 students.

Originally established in September 2009 as a Sponsor-Led Academy Trust however, in January 2022 we dissolved our sponsor led status and became a charitable trust.

As a charitable trust we are committed to the ethos ‘Aspire – Believe – Achieve’ which is reflected in an uncompromising belief from all stakeholders that our students can and will achieve in our learning communities, which are inclusive and supportive.

At Basildon Academies Trust, our values are rooted in a simple belief: every young person can achieve success beyond circumstance. We are driven by high aspirations for all and an unwavering commitment to providing an inclusive education that enables every learner to thrive.

We believe in excellence, creating ambitious schools where high-quality teaching, strong leadership, and high expectations ensure every student can achieve their full potential. We value inclusion, recognising and celebrating individuality whilst removing barriers to learning, participation, and achievement.

We are committed to belonging, fostering positive relationships and nurturing environments where students, staff, and families feel safe, respected, and valued. Through integrity and accountability, we work collaboratively, making decisions that are transparent, ethical, and always in the best interests of young people.

Above all, we believe in opportunity. We strive to broaden horizons, enrich experiences, and equip every learner with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and character needed to succeed in education, employment, and life.
