Our Sixth Form is built on a partnership between students, parents/carers and the Academy. By working together, we can ensure every student is supported to achieve their academic potential, develop personally and prepare successfully for their next steps.

1. The Academy

The Academy will:

• Promote excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Treat every student as an individual and provide appropriate support and challenge.
• Deliver a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that enables students to achieve their full potential.
• Provide appropriate support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in line with the Academy's SEND Policy.
• Set appropriate independent learning, homework and wider learning activities to support progress.
• Monitor academic progress, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, intervening where necessary.
• Provide appropriate opportunities to discuss student progress with parents/carers.
• Inform parents/carers promptly of any concerns regarding attendance, punctuality, behaviour, welfare or academic progress.
• Welcome parental involvement and respond to concerns in accordance with Academy policies.
• Keep parents/carers informed of key information, events and Sixth Form opportunities.
• Provide a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.
• Recognise, celebrate and reward student achievement, effort and contribution.

2. Parents/Carers

As parents/carers, I/we will:

• Ensure my/our child attends the Academy every day they are timetabled, arrives punctually and attends all timetabled lessons and compulsory activities.
• Inform the Academy promptly of any absence or circumstances that may affect attendance, wellbeing, behaviour or academic performance.
• Support the Academy's values, expectations and the BA Way.
• Support Academy policies, procedures and behaviour expectations.
• Encourage my/our child to complete independent learning, homework and directed study to the best of their ability.
• Attend Progress Review Meetings and any additional meetings arranged by the Academy to discuss my/our child's academic progress, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and how we can work together to provide the best possible support.
• Ensure my/our child follows the Sixth Form Dress Code, including wearing any required Sixth Form or examination lanyard and ID card.
• Encourage positive behaviour, respect for others and responsible decision-making.
• Maintain up-to-date contact details, including a current telephone number and email address.
• Treat all members of the Academy community with courtesy and respect.
• Encourage my/our child to engage fully with the wider life of the Academy, including enrichment opportunities and careers activities.

3. The Student

As a Sixth Form student, I will:

• Attend the Academy every day, arrive on time and maintain excellent attendance.
• Attend all timetabled sessions, supervised study sessions, assemblies and compulsory Sixth Form activities.
• Attend any timetabled intervention sessions that form part of a support programme relating to my attendance, behaviour or academic progress. These sessions are compulsory and form part of my Sixth Form timetable.
• Attend all RSHE Drop Down Days throughout the academic year. This includes guest speaker events, careers activities, enrichment opportunities and whole-school events, even if these days occur outside of timetabled sessions.
• Always follow the Sixth Form Dress Code, including wearing my Sixth Form student lanyard and ID card, which must be visibly displayed around my neck whilst on Academy site.
• Complete all classwork to the best of my ability.
• Complete all independent learning, homework and directed study outside of lessons, meeting deadlines and taking responsibility for my own learning.
• Seek support from staff whenever I need help with my learning, wellbeing or personal development.
• Respect all members of the Academy community and contribute positively to the learning environment.
• Respect Academy buildings, equipment and the property of others.
• Follow the Academy Behaviour Policy, Anti-Bullying Policy and all Sixth Form expectations.
• Follow the Academy's "Not Seen, Not Heard" policy regarding the use of mobile phones, electronic devices, headphones and AirPods.
• Follow all reasonable instructions given by Academy staff to ensure the safety of myself and others and to prevent unnecessary disruption to learning.
• Take advantage of enrichment, leadership, volunteering, work experience and extra-curricular opportunities wherever possible.
• Represent the Academy positively both on and off site.

Internet Acceptable Use Agreement

Parent/Carer

I/We give permission for my/our child to access Academy digital systems, electronic communication and the internet for educational purposes.

I/We understand that my/our child is responsible for using these systems appropriately and that the Academy will take appropriate action if these expectations are not met.

I/We also understand that some online content may be unsuitable and accept responsibility for supporting safe and responsible internet use outside the Academy.

Student

As a Sixth Form student, I agree to use the Academy's network, devices and internet access responsibly and in accordance with the Academy's Acceptable Use Policy.

I understand that I am responsible for my online behaviour and will use digital technologies safely, legally and respectfully.

Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices

I/We understand that mobile phones, smart devices, headphones, AirPods and earphones must remain not seen and not heard during the Academy Day unless explicit permission has been given by a member of staff.

Failure to follow this expectation will result in devices being confiscated in accordance with the Academy Behaviour Policy.
