The Engage 14-19 Pathway is for students who learn best with extra support and a more flexible approach to education. It helps young people develop the skills, confidence and qualifications they need for college, training, work and adult life.

A strong focus is placed on English and Maths. Students work towards qualifications that match their individual needs and future goals. This may include Entry Level qualifications, Functional Skills or GCSEs.

Alongside English and Maths, students can study a range of practical and vocational subjects through BTEC courses. These courses help students build knowledge, learn workplace skills and explore careers that interest them.

Our aim is to provide a personalised learning programme that supports every student to succeed and prepare for their next steps after Year 11.

Support and Adaptations

We understand that every student is different. The Engage Pathway offers a range of support to help students feel safe, successful and ready to learn.

Support may include:

• Smaller classes and group sizes
• Regular breaks during lessons
• Flexible timetables and groupings
• Use of laptops and other technology
• Regular checks on reading, spelling and other key skills
• Extra practice to help learning stay secure
• Access to quiet and sensory spaces when needed
• Sensory resources such as fidget tools and weighted blankets
• Support from a key worker
• Support from outside professionals and agencies
• Work experience and off-site learning opportunities where appropriate
• Core Strengths lessons to develop personal and life skills
• Uniform adjustments for students with sensory needs
• Online learning platforms and resources
• Extra support during break and lunchtime

Uniform

Students on the Engage Pathway wear a uniform that helps prepare them for life after school. They follow the Sixth Form dress code and also wear an Engage polo shirt or Engage quarter-zip jumper. This encourages independence, responsibility and readiness for college, training or work.

Preparing for the Future

The Engage 14-19 Pathway helps students build confidence, resilience and practical skills. Through personalised learning, targeted support and vocational opportunities, students are encouraged to achieve their goals and move successfully into further education, training, apprenticeships or employment.
