Ms Reynolds

My name is Ms Reynolds. I graduated from a Fine Art university in Istanbul, where I studied Art & Textile Design. After completing my degree, I worked in various textile and fashion companies before moving to the UK. Once I had taken time to raise my young family, I decided to pursue a career in teaching and completed my initial teacher training two years ago. Since then, I have worked in and experienced a range of school environments, including an all-boys grammar school.

This is the story of my development and experiences as an Early Career Teacher at The Basildon Academies."

I joined the school in September, filled with excitement but also a little nervous about becoming part of such a large and vibrant community. Since then, I have genuinely enjoyed my experience, teaching KS4–5 at the Upper Academy has been a significant learning curve for me, especially as I previously taught mainly KS3 in my first year as a newly qualified teacher.

This year, I also began teaching a new subject: Photography. Stepping into a new discipline has been both rewarding and daunting, but with the support around me, I am able to learn while I teach. One of the things I appreciate most is the school culture, there is a strong sense of connection, especially the natural, conversational relationships between students and staff during break times outside the classroom.

The Basildon Academies truly offers great opportunities for professional development, supported by a forward-thinking, welcoming department. My colleagues regularly check in to make sure I’m settling in and managing well, and that support at the start of my journey here has made all the difference.
